Race season is getting closer

Monday 29th March, did another session on the turbo trainer, I enjoyed this session only did about 35 mins with a few sprint efforts thrown in, but was happy in the knowledge that I will not be using this thing for much longer, well until next winter anyway,

Tuesday, managed to get away from work a bit earlier so went for a run, did 8.35 miles in 58.19 which is an average pace of 6.59 mins/mile felt comfortable all the way around, started slow and finished strong, happy with my running at present, have been injury free all winter so had consistent training right through, not to fast but feeling comfortable, need to start the mile reps to build some pace.

wednesday 31st March, swim session, covering longer distances at the moment trying to build some swim stamina, I think we covered over 2500m but by the end of the session was to knackered to pay much attension to the board and add it all up.

Thursday 1st April, The long awaited first Rock estate thursday night ride, as agreed the first and second sessions are to be easy sessions not pushing the pace or distance to far, we had a good turnout of about 18 riders, some faces missing but hopefully they will turn out shortly, covered 26.22 miles in 1hr 30 mins average speed was 17.4 mph, actual time around the route was longer due to a couple of pub stops and a couple of punctures. full marks to the Commodore pub for supplying high protien Salmon Burgers for the post ride nutrition essentials, beats crisps when I get home.

Friday, went for a quick run round the block, total distance is only 2.8 miles, first mile was easy warming up 7.15 pace second mile was harder 6.22 pace then pushed on to the finish last 0.8 mile at 5.58 pace, total time 18.20. A good little session to try and build some race pace into the legs.

Saturday and sunday didn't train as had to start work at home, will use it as core strength work.

2 weeks to first triathlon, 2 weeks off work, life is good!!
