an easy couple of weeks!!

The week beginning Monday 19th July I was planning not to do too much at all. Tuesday I swam at fritton, did 1.5 miles nice and steady, then on Wednesday went to do the Lotus Bike racing, this was a Handicap race so I got to do plenty of pedalling on the front of the pack for the first 25 mins.
Thursday we biked round the island then paddled the dragon boat up the river, not a good move for me as I twinged a muscle in my back, I am now well aware that I am a three trick pony only fit to swim, bike or run, I can't do much else.
The rest of the week I didn't do any training with the exception of a gentle 18 mile bike ride with Joe on Sunday.

The week beginning Monday 26th I was feeling better the niggles on my ankle and back were fixed, but I am building an extension on the house so plenty of time taken up doing that, not training.
Tuesday I swam at Fritton, Thursday we did a 60 mile bike ride out to Aldeburgh and back, this was a good ride averaging 20 MPH on mountain bikes, a total time of 2 hr 59.08.
Saturday went for swim again, then Sunday did a bike ride round the island on the road bike, I did a total of 27.5 miles in 1 hr 17.15. An average speed of 21.4 mph. this was encouraging as felt comfortable all the way round, my heart rate average was 128 bpm with a max of 168 which is 91% of maximum.

Another month gone, I now need to get back into training properly, I haven't run for a couple of weeks, but in July I biked about 340 miles. The waveney tri is only about 5 weeks away so I have time for 3 or 4 weeks hard training and an easy week before the event, I would like to put in a good time as will have some stiff competition from a strong Rock Estate entry to the event.
