Monday 2nd August, Decided to go for a run round the 2 bridges to see where my running was at, did the 5.9 miles in 39.04 which is an average pace of 6.39 mins/mile, quite happy with that as haven't run properly for a few weeks, the winters base training must be working.
Tuesday went to Earsham to have a go at a 2 up 10 mile time trial, Rode with Mark Nowell of Tri Anglia, we started well if not a bit quick for me to sustain for the distance, for the first 5 miles I just about did my share on the front but by half way I was slowing up and couldn't hold the speed on the front for long, by 7 miles I was struggling to stay on the back and draft, but managed one last quick session on the front to give Mark a quick break from dragging me round, we finished in a time of 22.18 averaging 26.9 mph, this was for me a really hard effort legs and lungs were both screaming at the end, but enjoyable and good to ride with somebody as you can't slow down as you'll let them down.
Wednesday was a rest day
Thursday did the Reedham bike route a total of 42.5 miles, started off feeling strong but after about 30 miles started to fade, I didn't have any power left in the legs.
Friday didn't get to do any training other than moving about a mile of timber decking, good core strength work!!
Saturday biked over to Fritton for a swim, I did a 400m lap in a wetsuit in 7.20 then did another 400m lap without the wetsuit in 8.45. I was trying to decide if I was best off wearing a wetsuit for the next aquathlon, I decided that I would be wearing the wetsuit as it only takes about 15 seconds to remove, will need to get back in the pool and sort out my swimming!
Sunday did an easy brick session with Joe, consisting of a 4.2 mile bike ride and then 3/4 mile run round the block we did this twice.(easy for me not so easy for Joe!!)
A good week of training will try to up the intensity next week.
